There are several types of complex ankle deformities. The most common cause is injury of the growth plate. Varus deformity, valgus deformity or flexion deformity may occur depending on the location of injury.
The ankle joint consists of the tibia and the fibula. These two bones should be thoroughly assessed for correction as flexion deformity limits the ankle’s range of motion and causes pain or degenerative change.
